I am providing the links below so that your students can practice the program songs and movements outside of class. Since we only have music every 4 days, it would be very helpful if they would practice outside of class when they can. Thank you for your help!

5/6 Grade Honor Choir

Last Saturday, seven 5th grade students participated in this year's 5th and 6th grade Honor Choir.
They rehearsed for six hours on a Saturday morning to prepare for their concert in the afternoon.

I am so proud of the hard work and dedication these students have shown. We sang, played games, and met other singers from around the St. Louis area. The concert was lovely and beautifully sung.

Dog Gone It!

Express yourself with music!

Mrs. Spink did a fantastic job decorating the music bulletin board in the hallway. It's almost time to change the board, so here's the final look!

Can you find your teacher's dog on here???

Take a look :)

First Grade Concert

First Grade is preparing for their May concert, Bucket Fillers. We all want to be bucket fillers, and not bucket dippers - hopefully a daily, lifelong goal. Please plan to attend the music program Wednesday, March 11 at 2:00pm in the Crestwood Gymnasium.

I am providing the links below so that your students can practice the program songs and movements outside of class. Since we only have music every 4 days, it would be very helpful if they would practice outside of class when they can. Thank you for your help!

Here are the practice tracks from In Africa from The Elephant's Child.

Please practice your parts, and also look at the track marked as "harmonies". You will be able to hear what each part should sound like when put together.

Happy practicing!

Yellow Belt

Happy practicing!

Below are the notes and other symbols required for the second belt in recorder karate: Yellow Belt. You will also find a video to help you practice!

Remember all symbols, note names, and music terms can be used as questions when testing! Try not to breath until the "breath marks" on this song!

Good luck.

Middle School Choir Tour

This week, 5th graders and Crestwood Chorus members were treated to a performance from the Sperreng and Truman Middle School Choirs. The two ensembles came together to perform some music from their Holiday concert just for us. What a treat!

Students were able to ask the performers questions about middle school and what it's like to sing in choir everyday. Crestwood was such a great audience! We look forward to hosting Sperreng and Truman again next year!

Sculptures

5th grade began the Spring semester with a unit on movement and body levels. Learners practiced expressing high, middle, and low levels independently. They then explored movement in partners, groups, and as an entire class!

Check out some of the "sculptures" 5th graders made!
